Day 13

Well, day 12 of the blog, and we are getting ready to launch it to the world. Before we could launch, though, we had to give it its own fabulous domain name. For those of you who don’t know what a domain name is – it’s the URL or Website address - in this case: http://blog.caraaustin.com. Now that the URL is set, you can use it anytime to reach this blog and read up on every little thing Cara Austin and Fat J Records have been up to. Very exciting, I know.
We’re just making the final tweaks to the Website so that there are links from the site to the blog, and then we’ll make the announcement.
It’s amazing how fun and challenging getting everything set up has been. And by everything, I mean everything. The website, pressing the CD, getting up on iTunes to sell, finding distribution channels, just to name a few things - there is a lot of behind-the-scenes that goes into the music business, stuff I had no idea about. But it’s all fun, exciting and definitely interesting.
And you can follow it all here on this blog, lucky for you! And most of all, lucky for us! Because without fans, we’d be nowhere.
SO THANKS!

I can’t believe that we’ve reached day 10 and I haven’t yet posted about Kyley. Kyley is Cara’s long-hair daschund, the cutest dog in the world. I may be slightly biased, but I love that dog. I will try to post some pictures of her, but Tumblr (which supports Cara’s blog) is a little kooky today so I’m having a hard time posting. If I can’t get them up today, they’ll be up tomorrow.

Cara is going to Cameroon in May and she just got all the documentation that she needs to fill out for her Visa. AND, I just found out that she has to get passport photos taken as part of the Visa application, which is very good news because it will be the funnest part of my day if I get to go with her. The last time that she had to get passport photos taken, we went to CVS and she made the lady take and re-take the photos about 15 times. The reason – Cara has a smiling problem.
Really.
In real life, Cara smiles all the time and looks totally normal and happy and natural. But if you point a camera at her and say “Smile” something happens and she can’t smile naturally. She does better if she tilts her head to the side, or opens her mouth wide in an exaggerated happy face, but she struggles when she is just trying to smile normally for a photo. I’ll try to post some examples….
